self portrait, circa 2001
It all started in the second grade when my teacher asked to see the notes I had taken that day during class. All she found in my journal was a page filled with doodles of hawaiian flowers, my name sketched in different styles, and that weird "s" thing that all 8-year-olds seem to know how to tag.
Since then, with the support of my family and friends, I have been pursuing the seemingly impossible profession as a creative. I graduated from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, and earned a B.F.A. in Art & Design with a concentration in Graphic Design. Though I initially moved back up the state and established my career in San Francisco, I am now (and forever) logging on from oh-so-dreamy Honolulu. I'm currently the Co-founder and Creative Director at Dude Babe Design Studio.
There is nothing that gets me stoked quite like beautiful photos, vintage typography, and especially black and white line drawings. Whoever said "diamonds are a girl's best friend" clearly never experienced the feeling of a freshly opened micron pen on a sheet of sketch paper.
"What are you like outside of work?" you might ask. Well, if you enjoy impromptu dance parties in front of your mirror, appreciate binge watching documentaries (because they make you smarter, duh), can speak fluent sarcasm, and/or if the ocean makes you happy, then I am sure we will get along just fine.
